Friday, 26 June 2009 – Midday

I had a deadline to finish by 11am, and I MET IT EASILY, but I had to do more pictorial blogs – morning, midday and afternoon.  Ps. Brad left for lunch with Ps. Craig, and during his absence, others had lunch and a loll started, but the crew kicked back into high gear when he came back.

Everyone should check out my picture blog for Midday. Okay Deal.

Friday, 26 June 2009 – Morning

Okay everyone, today we had a pretty extensive lecture on real life environments from Brad; it was probably a good thing because we were all whining (including me), but now I think we understand that we need to have a spoonful of cement.

Check out the morning picture blog I created…. please :)

Today was a very event filled day, however, some of my peers were subdued due to the demands put on them and the amount of time the Camp takes up.  I personally was 100%, although after lunch, during a relaxing period, my energy started to dwindle.

The morning started differently today because of the staggered times in which people decided to turn up, but after most people had arrived, Brad sat us down around the meeting table and gave us a quick overview of the day and our deadlines.  I was to do the pictorial blog again for today, and so I went around and took photos of the various activities taking place, such as: the studio being set up for the interviews, the graphic design people, Ms. McQuaker and Beth, the people editing and the interviews of Ps. Craig Murison and Mrs. Lesley Tunnah.

I helped out with the filming of Ps. Craig Murison’s interview, but after I had experienced the heat of the studio when the lights are on, I decided to bail on the next interview.  I am very glad I did skip Mrs. Tunnah’s interview, however I did feel sorry for the others who had to swelter away in the studio.

Brad decided to give me a deadline for the Pictorial Blog, but I met it easily.  As the day winds down I will put today’s photos on the photography machine and then back it up.

This morning, we sat down and Brad gave us a more detailed theory lesson on the intricate workings of computers in a laymen’s environment. We learnt about bit rates, RAM, processing cores, etcetera, etcetera.

Then, after morning tea, we were assigned our assignments for the day.  I was in charge of taking more photos of the camp and its various projects.  Brad had us meet his friend from the USA, Joe.  I personally got to meet Joe because Brad wanted to harass Joe and I about owning Macintosh computers.

Today, I was assigned the privilege of creating a picture blog for the Multimedia Camp’s blog site. I went around with a D-SLR camera and took various photos of the Camp’s participants, who were doing their own assignments and tasks. I spent most of the day creating this blog on my MacBook Pro. Click here to check out today’s pictorial blog. There were a lot of distractions throughout the day that hindered my work, but I got my task done on time.

So far, the Camp is going better than the previous years I have attended it, though there may be contributing factors such as a less demanding project and better organization. In my opinion, the camp seems laid back but the atmosphere is bound to change with increasing pressure and stress due to scarce time between deadlines.

Today, we were introduced to the Multimedia Camp staff and peers over a relaxed breakfast of sausage rolls and desert slices. Brad then ran us through the various lectures of equipment care and the way the camp will be run. We had theory for the major part of the day, touching on basics of aspect ratio, audio, web, lighting and video. The part I enjoyed most about the theory is when he described the workings of technology in detail.

After lunch, Brad assigned us tasks to do and preparations for upcoming tasks. I had to leave at 3pm today due to medical reasons, but before that I was helping out with setting up the studio for filming.
