Either you’re an avid fan…..Or You SHOULD BE!  Bets and I program two shows intermittently one on a Sunday morning (Spread The Word) 6AM - 8AM and Monday nights (Uplift) 8PM - 10PM. Being newbies to the community radio station 4CRM, we thought it would be good to get a professional opinion and some pointers. We all had a great time; Bets even invited Brad to stay on permanently, although I also believe she was sore from laughing so hard! As you can see in the pictures below, we worked pretty hard…..especially Brad! We got some good advice and can’t wait to try it out on the unsuspecting public, you have been warned!

what a way to start Day 3

What a way to start Day 3

I can’t believe how quick this week is flying by! We’re almost at the halfway mark of the camp, and the team is flying through the work at a phenomenal rate. It’s great! Things are coming together for the camp, we’re starting to get a few resources and notes together and the students are learning HEAPS! That’s what they are telling me anyway!

It’s great having Pastor Brad visit with us again, and it’s fantastic to have Beth here as well, lending her creative expertise and knowledge to assist us in lighting our studio, which by the way, looks outstanding!! It is definitely improved on last year’s (not that there was anything wrong with it at all!). We have tried a few different things with some light diffusers.

Today was a bit of a mad rush around to tie up a few loose ends at school, finishing off reports, picking up our awesome looking shirts, buying coffee (a necessity in keeping Brad happy!!). Brad has had me working on a project we needed to complete, as well as doing a bit of research for this year’s project. I’ve been impressed by the maturity and professionalism demonstrated by the group of students we are working with. A standard to which I will definitely hold them to in the future!

Today’s only frustration would be not being able to blog in ‘real-time’  at school, with the servers at school blocking access Brad’s site and our blog space. So I’m writing this from the comfort of my lounge chair, trying REALLY hard not to go to sleep before I finiiiiiiiiiiiiish! Definitely praying it will be fixed by tomorrow. So I can get some photos up. I’m usually the one with all the photos, so it’s a real challenge for me to step back and let the students take charge, but a good lesson!

Thanks for visiting! Come back and get updated, no doubt it will get even more zany as the week goes on!

The camp seems to be running smoothly as all the assignments are being handed out, and already I am thinking about what we can do to make next year’s camp even better! My first Multimedia Camp last year was a real experience in so many ways. I already had a passion for video production, but I was lacking the capacity to explore it beyond my own backyard. Next thing I know I’m thrown in ….boots and all…. to a 10 day camp with a strange foreign little man who talked about bradcasting (no that’s not a typo), a passion for shooting things (thankfully not people) and insatiable appetite for Tim Tams!! To be honest I had no idea what I was in for, but I was pleasantly surprised as the camp started to unfold. I got to see the look of excitement and accomplishment on the faces of students, who had barely breathed since school started, when they created a homemade studio and started to learn the professional production ‘lingo’.

Many of those students journeyed through the camp and immersed themselves in an environment they hoped to one day work in, while others plodded along just for the experience, eventually deciding it wasn’t the industry for them. Spiritually I saw students grow and change, physically I watched as they poured hours of their own time into creating, saving, storing, sorting, editing and laughing.

For me God ignited a fire in me and passion to develop Multimedia within the school environment, which slowly, bit by bit, is starting to come together (I like to remain positive that it is anyway!). I don’t think I can say with certainty the direction in which these plans are going, but Proverbs 3:5-6 has become the constant track that runs through my head daily.

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight“.

Throughout the year Pastor Brad has helped to keep me encouraged in the plans God has in store for me. I have been blessed with many of the students I have had a chance to teach. Never have I met such a diverse group of young people who are so confident in who they are and what they want from life…..it’s hard to explain really, but if you met them you would understand. I look forward to moving forward with these great plans and dreams and seeing what God has planned!

Hey! Hi-ya! How ya doin?! Great to see you could stop by and visit! Multimedia Camp 2009 is here and well underway. It’s been great to dive in and get started on ‘creating’ something truly inspiring with a group of incredibly talented people! As the camp unfolds each day, I’m amazed at the work we can accomplish and impressed by the high standard of work we are producing already. I look forward to updating you with the latest as our days progress……
